A cantora americana Katy Perry e a britânica Adele lideram as indicações para a 28ª edição do Video Music Awards (VMA 2011). A mulher do comediante Russell Brand tem nove indicações (quatro delas nas principais categorias, como melhores vídeos Pop, Feminino, Colaboração e do Ano) com quatro clipes diferentes: Teenage Dream, Firework, E.T., e Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.).
A britânica Adele tem sete indicações com apenas o clipe de Rolling in the Deep, incluindo as de melhores vídeos Pop, de Cantora e do Ano. O anúncio foi feito à meia-noite (horário de Brasília) no site da MTV americana, quando também começou a votação para o prêmio.
A cerimônia que revelará os vencedores ocorre em 28 de agosto, um domingo, transmitida ao vivo do Teatro Nokia em Los Angeles, nos Estados Unidos, com uma série de apresentações musicais dos indicados do ano.
